SEBRING, Fla. (Jan. 7, 2018)  – The Highlands County Tourist Development Council (TDC) recently launched a new Art & Culture Passport to promote and showcase the county’s Art & Culture attractions and events to visitors.

The Passport booklet will be distributed at the three local Chambers of Commerce, the TDC office, at the locations of participating attractions and events and can be requested online at  Once tourists visit at least 10 of the 34 listed attractions or events and get their Passport stamped, they can enter it to win a $500 VISA gift card, which will be randomly selected twice a year.

SEBRING, Fla. (Dec. 19, 2017) – The Highlands Art League (HAL) is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for its Artist in Residence (AiR) Program, which provides visual or literary artists dedicated time, space and support to experiment and develop a new body of work in a creative community at HAL’s ‘Village Where Art Lives.’  The ideal candidates for this program are progressive artists who are self-directed, motivated, community-oriented and passionate about creating new work.
The program encourages career artists who embrace community and enjoy working in a team environment to apply.  AiR artists will receive dedicated studio and living space in HAL’s Clovelly House complete with climate control and studio space in exchange for part-time work at the Village Where Art Lives.  The length of the residency is mutually agreed upon by HAL and the artist.  The residency can begin as early as Jan. 5, 2018.
Program benefits include:

  • Gain Valuable Teaching Experience – Paid teaching opportunities are available for children/adult classes.
  • Professional Development – AiR participants are encouraged to interact with and observe HAL artists, students and speakers.
