2017 Heartland Triathlon in Downtown Sebring

Registration for the Heartland Triathlon is open! Bring your friends and family to Downtown Sebring’s City Pier Beach, Civic Center & Sebring Public Library, June 17 & 18th 2017 to enjoy the festivities. It’s truly an inspiring experience to witness people get started and reach the finish line. Why? Well, let’s break it down.
  • The youth races consist of a 100-yard swim, a 3-mile bike ride followed by a half-mile run for kids ages 6 – 10. Kids between ages 11 & 15 will swim 200 Yards, ride a bike for 6 miles and then run for 1 Mile. (Children’s Triathlon, June 17 from 7:30-10:30 AM)
  • The sprint race consists of a .25 mile swim, a 14-mile bike ride finishing with a 3.1-mile run.
  • The Olympic race consists of a .93-mile swim, a 24.8- mile bike ride finishing with a 6.2-mile run. (Adult’s Triathlon, June 18 from 6:30 AM – 12 Noon)

Learn About Dementia & Brain Health in Downtown Sebring

 Memory Mobile is coming to Downtown Sebring from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017. You can find them in the parking lot adjacent to the City Office; 368 S. Commerce Ave, Sebring Florida. They are here to bring awareness about dementia and brain health free of charge.

What is Memory Mobile? Memory Mobile is part of the Alzheimer’s Association intended for public awareness of the Alzheimer’s disease and other memory-related disorders. Their focus is memory education. This is the perfect opportunity to learn about brain health and for caregivers to express concerns, and receive literature and resources.

Mother’s Day Exhibit Honors Local Artists & Their Children

The Highlands Art League’s (HAL) Yellow House Gallery & Gift Shop is celebrating Mother’s Day during the month of May by honoring artist mothers and their children as the Artists of the Month.

Featured artists will include:
Donna Scherlacher & daughter, Holly
Cindy Rose & son, Adam Eaton
Beverly Marshall & daughter, Tina Bologna
Grace Canada & daughter, Cheryl

“We cannot think of a better way to honor local mothers who are artists than with this special exhibit,” said HAL President Barb Hall. “This exhibit is an opportunity for them to showcase their talents and create lasting artistic impressions on our community with their children who are also talented artists.”

On Friday, May 12, the Yellow House will hold a reception from 5:00-8:00 PM celebrating the original artwork of these wonderful artists. The Yellow House Gallery is open Thursday-Friday 10am-4pm and Saturdays 10am-2p.m.

Please plan to stop by the Yellow House Gallery at 1989 Lakeview Drive to celebrate the work of these talented artists, as well as the various Studio Artists and Members’ Gallery.
