Long before redneck humor became mainstream, two actors met and created a theatrical phenomenon uniquely appealing to global audiences. Tuna, Texas, is populated by a bevy of eccentric characters with names like Bertha Bumiller and Thurston Wheelis, Vera Carp and Petey Fisk. The characters may seem concocted, but most of them were based on real-life people known to authors Joe Sears, Jaston Williams and Ed Howard. March 5th: Race to Taste Gala
Highlands Art League major fundraising event on March 5th 6pm-9pm at Sebring Civic Center. The “Race to Taste Gala” will be a social evening featuring wines, beers and hors’ devours native to several countries, a silent auction, a dessert bar, light musical entertainment, cigar lounge, local and regional art, and race-inspired fun. Jan 4-5 Shuffleboard Tournament
Jan. 4-5: Orange Blossom Classic Shuffleboard Tournament
The Orange Blossom Classic, one of the oldest and most prestigious shuffleboard tournaments in the Sunshine State, attracts nearly 150 competitors to the Sebring Recreation Club in Downtown Sebring. The two-day men’s and women’s doubles tournament offers prize money of $4,000, which is one of the largest in the state. For information, call Director Pat Dell at (863) 446-0808.

Four New Businesses
SEBRING, Fla. (Oct. 20, 2015) – The Sebring Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is pleased to announce that four new businesses have recently opened or plan to open soon in the Downtown Sebring CRA district.

Small Business Saturday
Small Business Saturday will be celebrated Nov. 28 in downtown Sebring. The event will feature a Pajama Shop starting at 8 a.m., as shoppers are encouraged to shop in their pajamas and enjoy coffee and refreshments provided by the Sebring Partnership (while supplies last). Merchants will be offering special discounts during the Pajama Shop for early bird shoppers. Participating businesses will have special Buy Downtown Sebring cards to be used in their stores for additional savings. See information from each merchant below.
