4th of July Celebration in Downtown Sebring!

Be a part of the 4th of July celebration in Downtown Sebring and enjoy the Independence Day fireworks over Lake Jackson from 9–9:45 PM at the City Pier Beach!
The Highlands Little Theatre will be hosting Free Patriotic Revue Shows every hour between 11 AM-3 PM. They will have hot dogs, cold beer, brats & more; refreshment sales benefit the scholarship fund. That’s not all!! They are also hosting a Fireworks Viewing Party starting at 7 PM at Frank’s Deck, found at Highlands Little Theatre. Get there early, enjoy the cash bar and the great view.

Sebring Art, Wine & Jazz Festival Announced for November

This FREE community event will celebrate 52 years of the fine arts is one of Florida’s longest continuously running art Festivals and the largest and most prestigious in the South Central Florida area

SEBRING, FL (June 23, 2018– The Highlands Art League will host its 52nd annual Fine Arts and Crafts Festival that has been re-branded for 2018 to the Sebring Art, Wine & Jazz Festival.  The festival will run Saturday, November 3 from 9AM–4PM, and Sunday, November 4 from 9 AM- 2 PM with cash prizes for participating established artists and scholarship awards for participating emerging artists. 
For 50+ years, this festival has provided a celebration of the art and music in Central Florida.  This festival draws thousands of people to historic downtown Sebring the first weekend in November to kick off the holiday shopping season.  The Festival features more than 100 talented visual and performing artists, along with culinary offerings from local restaurants and mobile food vendors, an interactive Children’s Street, an Emerging Artist Scholarship Program and the popular Chamber of Commerce Street filled with non-art organizations and businesses from the local area. Special features this year include wine tasting on Saturday, Jazz-style entertainment, speed painting, a Gospel Brunch on Sunday, and some new and exciting artists from outside of the area.

How to Own Your Building with an SBA 504 Loan

Coming in June is a business workshop that provides insight on how to purchase commercial buildings using the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 504 loan program.
The workshop takes place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19 in the University Center, Room 109 at South Florida State College, 600 W. College Dr., Avon Park. The workshop cost is $10.
Attendees will learn:
  • How the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) 504 loan program can help business owners purchase, build or renovate commercial buildings as well as provide funds for things like capital machinery with as little as a 10 percent down payment.
  • How an SBA certified development company can approve business owners and co-lend with their banks and credit unions for a low-interest, below market rate loan.
  • About tools offered through the Florida Small Business Development Center at University of South Florida that can make a business more profitable with DISC behavioral assessments, Profit Mastery training, Growth Acceleration and Export Marketing Plan services.
The workshop is provided in partnership by Highlands County Economic Development, the Florida SBDC at University of South Florida, located at South Florida State College, Florida First Capital Finance Corporation and South Florida State College.

Community Comes Together to Host Sebring Soda Festival This Weekend

The first ever Sebring Soda Festival is garnering a lot of local support and excitement with more than 30 sponsors and 40 non-profit organizations hosting tasting tents, as well as other businesses and organizations participating in various aspects of the event.


Highlands Regional Medical Center is the Title Sponsor, along with the following Presenting Sponsors: the Greater Sebring Chamber of Commerce, Visit Sebring/Highlands County Tourist Development Council (TDC) and the Sebring Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA).


“This endeavor was a community partnership from the beginning with the Chamber, TDC, and CRA, as well as Sebring Soda & Ice Cream Works,” said Liz Barber, CEO/President of the Greater Sebring Chamber of Commerce.  “We are thrilled to unveil months of hard work this weekend and celebrate good, old-fashioned fun in historic downtown Sebring for both tourists and locals to attend while showcasing our area businesses and non-profit organizations.”


Other local businesses and organizations that will be part of the Festival include: Children’s Museum of the Highlands – coordinating the Kid’s Zone, Dance Unlimited – performing and leading the sock hop on Friday evening, Highlands Little Theatre – performances and character photo opportunities, Sebring Cruise – hosting the Car Show, Ridge Area ARC – designed and produced souvenir T-shirts that they will sell at the event, and Sugar Sand Distillery – providing the spirits for the Pop & Fizz Cocktail Party Saturday evening.
